Getting Your House Ready for Sale

Outside:

1. Ensure your lawn is neatly mowed and trimmed.
2. Prune all the trees and shrubs around your house.
3. Introduce some flowers or place large flower pots around.
4. Sweep and tidy all walkways and paths.
5. Fix and clean all windows.
6. Clean out all gutters and downspouts.
7. Repaint outdoor areas showing signs of wear and tear.
8. Clean or replace door handles.
9. Keep the garage door shut.

Inside:

1. Remove all personal items like family photos, awards, homemade crafts, etc.
2. De-clutter your home (remove newspapers, boxes, etc.).
3. Clean all carpets.
4. Repair or repaint any damaged or dirty walls.
5. Ensure doors and windows operate smoothly.
6. Address minor damages (e.g., plasterwork, wallpaper, squeaky floorboards).
7. Add indoor plants.

Additional Suggestions for Hosting an “OPEN HOUSE”:

1. If feasible, keep pets out of sight.
2. Place fresh flowers in a vase.
3. Ensure your home smells inviting.
4. Clear off all tabletops, desks, shelves, etc.
5. Maximize natural light.
6. Use fresh towels in the bathrooms.
7. Turn off all TVs and computers during showings and open houses.
8. Play soft background music.
9. Never host an open house alone for safety reasons.
